Wall SafesAre you concerned with keeping your valuables protected from outsiders? In this day and age, you can’t be too careful around your home or office. We protect our homes with alarms and locks, but in case someone is able to get inside, how do we protect those things that we want to keep? Consider investing in a safe. A safe is a kind of strong box that is used to conceal and safeguard important items like documents, jewelry, cash, weapons, and other things. Don’t get the idea that a safe has to be small. This strong box can be as big as you need it to be depending on what you are storing inside. Wall safes are used as a way to hide items and conceal at the same time. You may have seen them on television. It’s the large portrait that swings away from the wall to reveal a metal door with a combination lock. Who would have guessed that the picture was more than a pretty face? Wall safes don’t have to be hidden by a portrait. They could be concealed behind a bookshelf or a stand. The wall safe can be the size of a large cardboard box. These safes are placed inside the wall between studs in the wall. The doors can be flush or inset so that there is no way to tell what they are to the casual observer. Why use a wall safe instead of a safe deposit box. Safe deposit boxes are a good choice if you are storing something that you don’t need to have access to in a hurry. Banks are not open twenty-four hours a day so if you wanted to get at something in the box, it would have to be during normal business hours. Precious jewelry can be stored in a wall safe. Maybe you only wear it on special occasions but want it nearby. A wall safe in your closet behind the clothing rack is a great hiding place. Wall safes can also be used to store the handgun and ammunition that you use for family protection. A safe ensures that the handgun can’t be found by curious children. The whereabouts of a wall safe will not be known by a burglar so you can get to it if you need to. Wall safes come in a variety of styles. The most common one that has been seen is the combination lock. It is simply a series of tumblers with a three number combination. Safes also come with electronic locks. The combination doesn’t get entered on a spinning dial but punched in using a numbered key pad. Owners can come up with their own combination so it will be easy to remember. Make the combination something simple and meaningful to you but hard for someone else to guess. If you really want to get high tech, choose a wall safe with a biometric lock. Biometrics consists of using a retinal scan (spy stuff), voice print, or a fingerprint match to lock the safe. Fingerprint lock wall safes are available to safeguard your valuable possessions. Make sure that your safe is also fireproof. It would seem that a safe by its very nature would protect what was inside from any type of intruder. But, fires can burn pretty hot depending on what was used to start it. Investing in a safe that is stamped “fireproof” is extra protection against unforeseen disasters. A wall safe is a way to protect what means a lot to you whether at your home or office. Investing in one is a smart choice. |
