Fireproof Gun Safes

If you keep a large gun collection at home burglaries are not the only thing you should be worried about, a house fire could be one of the worst tragedies you may ever have to face. A fireproof gun safe will protect your personal belongings from getting damage in a fire. Make sure you ask plenty of questions about the fireproofing material some companies claim to use and get educated before you make your final decision.

Our fireproof gun safes are filled with fireproof materials to ensure it withstands a house fire. Some of the materials we use are type X gypsum fire board and ceramic blanket.

Type X gypsum fire board is the most common material used by manufacturers. People often confuse regular gypsum with type X gypsum board, they are similar in appearance but not in composition.
Regular and Type X gypsum board are both made by the same gypsum board standard specification. However, type X gypsum board has special additives to increase the natural fire resistance.

Ceramic blanket is not as popular as gypsum board and is barely use by some safe manufacturers. One of the main reasons why manufacturers prefer using gypsum board over ceramic is cost. It cost about three times as much to insulate a single safe with ceramic than it does using gypsum board. On the positive side ceramic blanket can withstand higher heat temperatures than gypsum board does. Ceramic blankets are produced with advance spinning technology and are rated at high temperatures of 2300 degrees fahrenheit.

Whether you lean towards a gypsum board or a ceramic blanket insulated safe you can rest assure that your guns and valuables are well protected against a fire.
