Light Duty Gun Lockers
If you need to store one or more firearms and you are not in a location where you need to restrict access to the guns by members of the public, then a light duty gun locker is a good choice.
When examining gun lockers from different manufacturers, look for a model with doors that are recessed into the frame of the unit. This style is preferable, since it is resistant to being pried open. Choose a gun locker made from steel; it is a durable material that will keep the contents secure.
The bottom of the gun locker you choose should be lined with felt to protect your valuable firearms from becoming scratched while in storage.
Gun Lockers for Multiple Firearms
If you have more than one gun you want to secure in a locker, do consider securing the appropriate number of gun lockers together to make one single unit. Each compartment should have a separate lock for extra security. If you are looking for a multi-unit gun locker, then do ask the manufacturer or retailer if you can get a master key for all locks; that way you will be able to access your collection even if you misplace the key to that particular gun locker.
Gun Lockers for Rifles
If you need to store rifles as opposed to hand guns, then you will need to look for a long gun locker. For security purposes, you will want to bolt them to either the floor or to the wall.
Make sure that the unit you are considering is made of steel and that the corners are welded down. You want to be sure that it is tamper-resistant.
Multiple rifles should be stored in separate units, which can be attached to form one gun locker, as in the case of storage for several pistols as set out above. You also want to make sure that the bottom of the gun locker is fitted with felt to protect the gun's finish.
